Bridging The Gap In Artificial Intelligence Education For Undergraduate Business Students

Artificial intelligence has grown to be a vast technology crossing many boundaries both technically and in the scope of domain. With the vast growth and depth, the use of artificial intelligence has become a valuable tool to the business community and one that is poised to become the primary influencer for business decisions. However, much of the teaching around artificial intelligence stems from computer science or engineering disciplines around machine learning and hardware engineering used to develop and advance artificial intelligence capacity and growth. Most business students do not have the background or desire to expand their studies into the technical depth offered by the computer science or engineering disciplines but will require some type of knowledge of artificial intelligence to be effective in the workplace. Currently, many business schools offer courses in big data or data analytics which only narrows the students understanding to a small portion of the overall domain which is artificial intelligence. Current literature is very limited around the development of curriculum in regards to artificial intelligence and business students, focusing on graduate-level studies.
This paper looks to explore the artificial intelligence concepts, tools, and resources that are currently available. While developing a robust non-technical undergraduate curriculum for business students while meeting the needs of the business community.
